Frequently Asked Questions
For Authors
Yes. Our service is Amazon Terms of Service compliant. Reviewers are not compensated or provided financial incentive to post reviews, are not required to review every book we offer, are not required to post a positive review, and only post reviews of books that they have actually read. Our service does not sell reviews. It pitches books to reviewers who are an ideal fit.
No. We do not sell reviews, and sites that sell reviews are not Amazon Terms of Service compliant. We pitch books to reviewers.
Beyond what we need to simply cover the expenses of maintaining our platform, payments are used to fund development costs and the costs of adding more reviewers to our database.
We charge $1 per pitch.
No. We connect you only with available reviewers who have expressed a genuine interest in reviewing books in your genre. All of our reviewers have opted in with us to receive offers. However, our reviewers are not obligated to review every book that we pitch to them. This makes positive reviews much more likely and also helps us to remain in compliance with Amazon Terms of Service (TOS). Note that any site that requires their reviewers to review is not in compliance with Amazon TOS.
- No. We send offers for books that our reviewers are predisposed to like, but we cannot guarantee that our reviewers will like your particular book, or force them to like it. Reviews are genuine—based on actually reading the book. Sites that require positive reviews are not Amazon Terms of Service compliant.
Individual reviewers may post reviews to Amazon, Goodreads, social media, and or personal book blogs and sites.
This will vary based on a reviewer's schedule and obligations. We ask that our reviewers give an ETA on a book-by-book basis.
We primarily source our reviewers via paid social media ads on sites like Twitter. Our ads target those genuinely interested in reading, books, and helping authors indicated by the types of accounts that they follow. Our ads target those in the US, UK, Canada, Australia, and New Zealand primarily, and we also get sign ups from other countries as our social media posts are shared. We also get reviewers via word of mouth outside of social media.
Our service is a great solution for authors seeking genuine Amazon Terms of Service compliant on a variety of platforms with minimal commitment of personal time managing the review process and with cost-consciousness built in from the ground up. Our service is particularly well suited for authors launching new titles and those wishing to reinvigorate old titles with fresh reviews.
If an author is already well established with several hundred reviews on previous titles and the means to easily get past reviewers to post reviews for their next title, they may not need our service. Additionally, authors with several hundred reviews on a title with a decent portion of them being recent may not need our service either.
Please remember, the following expectations are not compatible with Amazon Terms of Service compliance and are not expectations that we can meet:
- Every pitch will result in a reviewer agreeing to review your book.
- Every reviewer who agrees to review your book will follow through.
- Every review will be 5 stars.
- Negative reviews will not be posted.
We ask but do not require that authors give us 90 days from their payment date to show the full results. This aligns with the typical maximum turn around time for reviews and emphasizes that working with us is not an overnight fix. Pitching books to our reviewers takes time, and it takes our reviewers time to read pitches, accept books, read books, and review books.
If an author is not satisfied with the results they have seen, they may email us at christian@bookreviewerdatabase.com for a full, no-questions-asked refund. Please be sure to provide your name, email address, and book title to ensure that we have the details needed to process your refund. Refunds are typically processed within 5 business days (Monday through Friday 9-5 ET / NYC time, excluding US holidays). Please allow up to 5 business days before following up. We will provide confirmation of having received a refund request and of having initiated the refund.
For Reviewers
No, you are fully free to only accept the books that most appeal to you and for which you have time. You can also turn off new book pitches temporarily when your "to-be-read list" has filled up.
We recommend that our reviewer send epub or mobi files. Some also provide PDFs.
Our ultimate goal is to be a resource for authors who write books in the 12-13 most spoken languages. Building out this capability will require a significant amount of time and development funding. Once we have perfected the English language features of our platform, we will add Spanish then build from English and Spanish.
